Our Living Art Festival

On a hot summer day, Our Living Art Festival marked the end of the arts programme for Chobham Manor. Taking place on Saturday 26th August, we celebrated an afternoon packed with free art workshops, dance performances and music entertainment. More than 3,000 people from the local community and further afield joined in the fun at Timber Lodge Café in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

With mandalas and mask making, drawing classes, photography workshops, Indian and street dance lessons and two special exhibitions – Stratford Living and Bird Box Avenue – there were plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy.

The event saw out in style the series of 46 free workshops that Chobham Manor LLP made available over the past six months to all its new residents. This successful programme has given over 500 people the opportunity to meet new neighbours from the community as well as try out painting, drawing, clay shaping, drumming and bird box making.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the activities and provided feedback to explore future opportunities here at Chobham Manor.

Regeneration Update

Chobham Manor is growing fast with a new neighbourhood and buzzing community. We’re keeping you informed on our progress throughout our regeneration phases.

Phase 1
Phase 1 is now nearing completion and it is not long until all areas are finished and the next residents start to move in. The Rain Garden will also be completed with the final block in Phase 1 and open for everyone to use and enjoy.
The new roads and pathways will link East Village to the Velodrome making local amenities more accessible. Then the new construction site perimeter will run along Peloton Avenue separating the ongoing work from your home.

Phase 2
As you may have noticed, construction on Phase 2 has started. The reinforced concrete frame, brickwork and relevant ground work for the first block is moving forward to plan.
There are three further blocks in Phase 2 and construction will start on the concrete frame for each block in the next few weeks. Works will first start on the block closest to Peloton Avenue and move on towards the current Project Office (Derny Avenue).

Phase 3
Work is due to start on the Community Centre and nursery in late spring 2018. The Community Centre is located where Mobile Garden City currently resides. So at the start of 2018, Mobile Garden City will be relocating to another site on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Site safety
A one way system is in place on site to reduce any disruption caused by site traffic to local roads. This one way system will be changing in the near future to allow site traffic to enter site at the main gate and leave site at the junction of Abercrombie Road and Derny Avenue. This will cause the least amount of disturbance to any residents living on Chobham Manor, East Village or those attending Chobham Academy.

Phase 2 Launched

Taylor Wimpey hosted a very successful launch event for the much-anticipated release of Phase 2 at Chobham Manor. It was exciting to welcome a queue of eager purchasers, some existing and others new, all looking forward to becoming part of our new community.

To mark the event, Taylor Wimpey officially opened their newly refurbished Marketing Suite – which includes two truly stunning show apartments designed by celebrity interior designer, Derek Taylor, from the popular TV series 60 Minute Makeover. If you have not yet had a chance to visit the Marketing Suite to take a look, it is well worth doing so.

The Sales Team are always on hand should you have any queries regarding the range of new homes now available in Phase 2. Just click here to find out how to contact them.

Architecture work experience

Following a successful summer work experience placement in partnership with The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, Taylor Wimpey and PRP architects, our two graduates are now ready to move on into the next phase of their career journey.

Claudio Cabulo completed his six-week paid placement at PRP architects, and is looking to start his Part II studies next month. Claudio shared his experience with us: “People make the company, not the four walls. It wasn’t what I expected at PRP, it was much more.”

Nagarajah Alakarsamy successfully completed his six-week placement with Taylor Wimpey, with great feedback from the management team. Nagarajah is due to complete his degree next month; he is now looking to secure full-time work and feeling confident from the skills he has learnt.

We wish both Claudio and Nagarajah good luck with their studies and search for future opportunities.
