Protest march – joint mitigation strategy
Dear residents of Chobham Manor,
We hope this update finds you well. You may already be aware of the protest march and rally by StandupX, which is due to take place on Saturday, 5th December 2020 at midday. We understand that this concerns a majority of residents and so we wanted to take the time to inform you of some important information.
Standupx are an anti-government anti Covid action group that does not consent to illegal and disproportionate COVID-19 Measures. Their marches and rallies are largely peaceful. The poster (attached) briefly denotes their plans of congregating outside the Olympic Velo Park. We currently anticipate up to 50 people attending, but again we cannot be certain. However, we will monitor and act accordingly, whilst keeping residents informed.
Following this news, L&Q, Taylor Wimpey, LLDC and Lee Valley held a meeting on the 03.12.2020 to discuss and agree on joint efforts to reduce the potential impact this may have on residents.
The protest group are due to meet outside the Velo Park at approximately 12PM, before the group move on to another location. As of this moment, although we are uncertain of their planned routes and final destination, we are working with other partners to hopefully identify this in due course.
Below are measures which will be implemented in light of the forthcoming event.
a) Taylor Wimpey have an additional security guard on phase 4 as well as existing security guards on phase 3.
b) Lee Valley have arranged for additional barriers to be placed to deter the group congregating on the plaza. They will also have security guards policing the plaza area for the duration of the event.
c) LLDC will also have additional security presence on site.
d) There will be local police on site. They will be communicating with other resources if required.
e) PCM – L&Q have instructed PCM to patrol the development between 12PM and onwards to ensure illegal parking is policed.
