Event at Olympic Park – 24th November 2022

Dear Resident

 

We would like to inform you that there will be a one-off charitable event being held today starting from 7pm being held at Timber Lodge.  It will involve people sleeping out on the lawn next to the building from 10pm. The organisers and the operators of the café, Change Please, are very aware of the proximity to of this to our residents, so will be looking to ensure that there is no noise disturbance.

And these are the key details in relation to the event operation:

 

  • 130 people will be attending, all of whom are aged 18 or over
  • It will start with an indoor presentation, with the provision of food and drinks from 7pm until 10pm
  • The only outside activity will be sleeping, from 10am until 7am; and this is to be patrolled by the event’s team and security staff to ensure that noise is kept to an absolute minimum
  • It is proposed that the toilet will be accessible overnight for participants, and only from the side door next to the play area so that nobody can access the rest of the building. This will be manned throughout the night

Dear Resident

 

Starting on Monday 21st November there will be a team from IGL/ Thames Water coming to Phases 1-4 to carry out some minor works.

 

This work is likely to last up until 25th November, there will be some areas on footpaths that will be excavated, but there will be contractors onsite on Thursday 24th November to reinstate all footpaths.

 

This work will be taking place across the development but will cause as little disruption as possible.

 

IGL will be working within the agreed planned hours of 08.00- 17.00 it is expected that no noisy works will take place.

 

The works will take place in the following areas:

Private residents – If you have purchased your home from Taylor Wimpey:

 

If you are within your warranty period and believe you have an issue which is covered under the warranty, please contact Taylor Wimpey customer services at eastlondoncustomerservices@taylorwimpey.com We ask that you provide us much detail as possible to ensure the team can allocate the works accordingly. Please note, where an issue is not considered to be covered under your warranty i.e. misuse, Taylor Wimpey reserve the rights to charge for the totality of works.

 

L&Q Residents – if you have purchased your home from L&Q:

Communal issues (within warranty period):

 

If you have identified an issue within the common areas i.e. lift, door entry system, please contact lqaftercarelondon@lqgroup.org.uk and copy in your neighbourhood housing lead. The aftercare team within L&Q and the housing management team will work in conjunction to identify the cause of the issue and resolve accordingly. Similarly, any misuse of the common areas i.e. obstructing lifts and or using the break glass unit to unlock the doors, will not be covered under warranty, and as such will be chargeable to all residents via service charges.

 

Emergency issues (within warranty period):

Grounds Maintenance Walks

Dear Resident

We are pleased to inform you that we will be introducing regular sessions for residents to join our Caretaking Team and Neighbourhood Housing Leads, to walk around the grounds.  This will be a great opportunity for residents to discuss any issues or concerns regarding the upkeep of the grounds and we would also welcome any suggestions from residents, which may help us to improve the service we currently provide.

We feel that this collaborative effort will be a great way to get more residents involved as well as build a stronger relationship between us.

The sessions will run every 2 weeks on a Thursday between 10am-12pm and the first session will commence on Thursday 17th November 2022.

We look forwarding to seeing residents attending these sessions.  Please can all residents who are attending any of the sessions meet us outside the site office at 3 Peloton Avenue.

Service Charge Surgery – 17th November 2022

We hope all is well.

We are pleased to announce that we will be holding another Service Charge Surgery.

Following the growing demand of the service charge surgeries and discussions with the CMRA, we can confirm that the next surgery will take place on Thursday 17th November,  4pm – 6pm and will be held via a conference call, as opposed to an on-site surgery.

If you would like to attend the surgery, can you please email your Neighbourhood Housing Lead, with confirmation of attendance to the surgery, a contact number, an alternative contact number, your address and your service charge query

The World Reimagined Globes

Dear Resident

You may already have seen the five World Reimagined Globes that have been placed at the Park since August.  From today, The World Reimagined is bringing together over 40 globes from its successful London art trails to the Park for two weeks through to the 17th November.

The World Reimagined is a ground-breaking, vibrant art education project to transform how we understand the Transatlantic Trade in Enslaved Africans and its impact on all of us so that we can make racial justice a reality, together.   The globes explore black history with themes ranging from Mother Africa to Still We Rise and Expanding Soul with an enormous range of interpretations and creative styles by globally renowned artists including Vashti Harrison, Phoebe Boswell and The World Reimagined’s Founding Artist Yinka Shonibare CBE. 

For the next two and half weeks only, the globes will be on display across Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park so you can discover this unique body of work for the first time in one place.  The sculptures are an invitation for everyone from families, friends and local communities to talk together about how they understand their history; how the past—particularly the UK’s relationship with the Transatlantic Trade in Enslaved Africans—shapes the future; and how to act for social change to make racial justice a reality.  As people visit the globes, they will also be able to dive into an online collection of short, accessible stories that bring The World Reimagined’s Journey of Discovery themes – which explore the past, present and future – to life.

Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, this unique collection features contributions from historians, museums and heritage organisations, including Professor Kehinde Andrews, the British Library and Know Your Caribbean. Parents can also download free activity packs for children, which draw on The World Reimagined’s work with 200+ schools across the country.
